Soul like Mother Mary

May is dedicated in Catholic church to Mother Mary and that's when we celebrate Mother's Day as well. Jesus' Mother is considered the most beautiful woman, adored by her life and intersessions. She's an extraordinary example of holy soul and a wonderful mother.

As a small girl I participated in a prayer called: the litany of the Lorette and now I pass it to the next generations.

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.

Christ hear us. Christ graciously hear us.

God, the Father of heaven, have mercy on us.

God the Son, Redeemer of the world,

God the Holy Spirit,

Holy Trinity, one God,

Holy Mary, pray for us.

Holy Mother of God,

Holy Virgin of virgins,

Mother of Christ,

Mother of the Church,

Mother of Mercy,

Mother of divine grace,

Mother of Hope,

Mother most pure,

Mother most chaste,

Mother inviolate,

Mother undefiled,

Mother most amiable,

Mother admirable,

Mother of good counsel,

Mother of our Creator,

Mother of our Saviour,

Virgin most prudent,

Virgin most venerable,

Virgin most renowned,

Virgin most powerful,

Virgin most merciful,

Virgin most faithful,

Mirror of justice,

Seat of wisdom,

Cause of our joy,

Spiritual vessel,

Vessel of honor,

Singular vessel of devotion,

Mystical rose,

Tower of David,

Tower if ivory,

House of gold,

Ark of the covenant,

Gate of heaven,

Morning star,

Health of the sick,

Refuge of sinners,

Solace of Migrants,

Comfort of the afflicted,

Help of Christians,

Queen of Angels,

Queen of Patriarchs,

Queen of Prophets,

Queen of Apostles,

Queen of Martyrs,

Queen of Confessors,

Queen of Virgins,

Queen of all Saints,

Queen conceived without original sin,

Queen assumed into heaven,

Queen of the most holy Rosary,

Queen of families,

Queen of peace.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, spare us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray.

Grant, we beseech thee, O Lord God, that we, your servants, may enjoy perpetual health of mind and body; and by the glorious intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, may be delivered from present sorrow, and obtain eternal joy.

Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

These are a few characteristics of Mather Mary that I picked from the Bible about her. Pause and reflect on them. Ask some questions about your motherly soul.

  • Filled with the Holy Spirit

Lk, 1:35

And the angel said to her,

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,

and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;

therefore the child to be born will be called holy,

the Son of God.

We are told to walk through the life with the Holy Spirit? Do you?

  • Joyful for God

Lk, 1:46-48

And Mary said:

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;

my spirit rejoices in God my savior.

For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness;

behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.

We should consciously choose joy. Do you?

  • Holding what's important in your heart

Lk, 2:16-19

So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger.

When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child.

All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds.

And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.

We ought to keep our private things to ourselves and the secrets that were entrusted to us as well. Do you?

  • Present no matter the times

J, 19:25

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala.

We are called to always keep company to those who we love, even if the situation is difficult and uncomfortable. Do you?

  • Pointing to the father

Lk, 2:48

When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.”

We get very prideful in our motherhoods, yet Mother Mary brings the father first. Do you?

We surround Mother Mary with our prayers and flowers to show our love.

If you took a moment to think about what makes Jesus Mother special, you are most likely a holy mother too!

Like Marlaina, who took these beautiful pictures for me. Thank you.

May Mother Mary be our inspiration and strength as we strive to be like her!
